A Class Divided
This video shows young children in the late 60s discussing issues of race, and experiencing a simulation that exposes the children to what it is like to be discriminated against. Some of the language that is spoken is representative of the era, and is not what you are accustomed to hearing in modern classrooms. Since ours is a course that addresses the human condition, and discrimination and stereotyping is a part of the human condition, it is a useful tool for us to use while studying the phenomena of prejudice and discrimination. We will have a class discussion about what you see throughout the video, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions about what happens in the video. I think that some of you will be surprised by what you witness.
